The Analytical Column is written to help analysts understand their work. Read it, share it and learn from it; these few terms say what it is and what it is not.
Educational, not a procedure
The Foundations pieces explain the reasoning behind analytical methods. They are not method procedures, validation protocols or professional advice. For any measurement, work from the method you run, the standards and certificates it names, and your laboratory's quality system.
Sources
Every factual claim is meant to carry a source, listed at the end of each piece. Standards, books and articles quoted or summarised belong to their authors and publishers; read the original before relying on a detail. If you find an error, use Ask Michael on any page and it will be checked and corrected.
